November 2011

November brings us to the end of our Exhibition season. Thank you to everyone who came along to see "On The Water Front" at any of the venues this year.

Sales from the prints on exhibition have helps us develeop further our SPLASH Art Photography Learning tool for children. We aim to continue delivering these free art photography workshops to yr 6 students in primary school.

This years students at Kirk Merrington Primary School will be holding an exhibition within the school showing the work they have completed during the workshops. So watch this space for more news and dates!

Botanic Garden Cafe

The Botanic Garden Cafe Exhibiiton, was a great success, visiting the venue regularly to hear feedback on the images and the ethos of the exhibition was both interesting and informative.

Visitors felt the use of Hahnemhule Bamboo added something special to the whole concept of the exhibitions. This digital archival gallery quality media was used because the process of manifacture ensured maximum attention is given to the conservatyion of resources, particularly "Water" which was of cours ethe main focus of the events.

We will be revisiting The Botanic Gardens in the future as it is one of our favourite venues in the area around Durham University.

Studio Pookini

An ethical approach to Photography, Art & Education

Hello My name is Jeanette I run Studio Pookini and A Way of Seeing.
I organise exhibtions at local galleries and other spaces which help support our efforts to develop the free workshops we offer to children.
I have often worked within organisations where young peoples lives and development has been the main focus. I am presently working as a senior administrator within an educational setting.

What We Do

I am bringing together different aspects of Studio Pookini with this website. It is under development and I hope you both enjoy the content and comment on it to help us make it easy to understand and navigate.

At present we do three main things.

  1. Organise Art Photography Exhibitions of our work
  2. Write and publish our own Learning tool for children
  3. Deliver free Art Photography workshops to yr 6 school children
  4. Organise exhibitions of children's workshop images
  5. Produce our own Ltd Edition Prints for sale on-line
